Dr. Johann Hansi Hansmann was born in Austria and has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Business Administration and Economics in Vienna. He spent the majority of his professional life working as an executive in the pharmaceutical industry in Austria, Germany, the UK and Spain. He successfully built and ran his own pharmaceutical company in Spain following the management buy-out of a large pharmaceutical plant, until a very successful exit in 2003. Since this time he has been an active investor and business angel. In 2012 he cofounded the Austrian Angels Investors Association and serves as their active president. Hansi holds investments with a geographical focus on Austria, Germany, the UK and Spain both in the internet and health industry. With more than 40 investments in extraordinary Start Ups, Hansi is said to be one of the most active and successful Business Angels in Europe. In May 2016 he was awarded Best European Early Stage Investor 2015. However, only those Start Ups where he says he is playing a major part as Business Angel belong to the Hansmen Group. These founders or hansmen (including also a substantial number of female founders) regard Hansi not just as a Business Angel, but as a mentor and friend. Hansi is now based in Vienna and tries to find spare time to ride his mountain bike when he is not reporting from just another meetings with his hansmen on Facebook.
