Inner West Council is a new Council formed by the merger of the former Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville Councils. The new council was proclaimed on 12 May 2016. The former councils were merged by the NSW State Government under their reform program for councils. The new, larger council was considered by the State Government to be in the best interests of inner west residents. For Inner West Council residents, there will be no immediate change to the services you receive. Over the next few months, Council will review all services to make sure they remain efficient and effective. Until then, everything is business as usual.
