KONI was founded in 1857 by A. de Koning in Oud-Beijerland, the Netherlands, initially making leather equipment for horses. The company name “KONI” was established in 1928, with KONI first making friction type shock absorbers in 1932. In 1945, KONI began development of the world’s first adjustable hydraulic telescopic type shock absorber for cars and trucks, a product style which remains synonymous with KONI.
Known for a proud and successful history in motor sports, KONI has and continues to work with leading teams across rally and racing, including winning Grand Prix World Championships, to solve suspension problems and develop new innovative technologies.
